Russian Terror Escalates: Massive Nighttime Strikes on Ukrainian Cities Cause New Civilian Casualties

2 weeks ago

Kyiv, June 6 – While Moscow talks about “peace,” the brutal reality on the ground tells a different story. On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, Russia launched one of the heaviest airstrikes in months against Ukraine, targeting civilian infrastructure with devastating consequences—destroyed buildings, tragic deaths, wounded children, and tens of thousands left without power.

Cities Under Attack: Deaths, Injuries, and Destruction

Preliminary reports from the Ukrainian Air Force confirm that the enemy fired 44 missiles and over 400 kamikaze drones across multiple regions. In Kyiv, three rescuers were killed while responding to an earlier attack. The strikes caused severe damage to residential areas and energy facilities.

Across the country, dozens of civilians—including children—were injured. In Kharkiv, drones hit apartment buildings, injuring at least four children.

Other regions such as Lviv, Khmelnytskyi, and Poltava also reported drone strikes or falling debris. Several facilities were partially destroyed, and residents were left without electricity.

Tragedy on June 5: Civilians Targeted

On June 5, the city of Pryluky in the Chernihiv region suffered a deadly blow when a Russian drone struck a residential building, killing a woman, her daughter, and her one-year-old grandson. This attack, lacking any military justification, highlights the deliberate targeting of civilians.

On the same day, Russian forces destroyed the regional government building in Kherson — a purely civilian structure with no military value. These attacks underscore a clear pattern of terror against the civilian population.

Russia Talks Peace but Fuels War

Despite official claims of willingness to negotiate, Russia’s military actions tell a different story. Ukrainian analysts believe the Kremlin aims to prolong the war and exhaust Western support, hoping to reduce military aid to Ukraine.

The clear goal is to break Ukrainian resistance through terror, psychological pressure, and humanitarian crisis—pressuring the government and international partners to concede to Moscow’s terms.

Global Response: Sanctions, Support, and Isolation

Ukraine calls on its allies to:

  • Strengthen sanctions against Russia;
  • Speed up delivery of advanced air defense systems;
  • Intensify diplomatic and economic isolation of the aggressor state.

According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, military aid is not just support—it is crucial to preventing further escalation and stopping Russian aggression.

The international community faces a critical moment. Only by imposing real, painful consequences can this war be ended before it claims more lives.
