Israel launched a “preemptive strike” on Iran overnight from Thursday to Friday, the Israeli army and Israeli Defense minister Yisrael Katz reported.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Operation Rising Lion on X, a “targeted military operation to counter the Iranian threat to Israel’s survival” targeting Iran’s uranium enrichment, nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs, specifically the uranium enrichment plant in Netanz and nuclear scientists. In his view, the military operation against Iran will last “as many days as necessary.”

The Iranian Armed Forces, for their part, promised a “strong response” to Israel’s attack.
