Windows 11 Introduces New Recall Homepage and Customizable Indicator Positions

Microsoft is rolling out a new feature in Windows 11 allowing users to reposition hardware indicator pop-ups for volume and screen brightness to the top-left and top-center areas of the screen. This customization capability is part of the latest Dev Channel build, which also introduces a Recall homepage to enhance user activity tracking, reports 24brussels.

In previous versions of Windows 11, indicators for volume, brightness, and airplane mode appeared at the bottom center of the display. The recent build lets users relocate these indicators, minimizing disruption to their workflow. However, the top right position remains unavailable, likely due to proximity issues with application control buttons.

In addition to position customization, the updated Recall homepage showcases recent usage, spotlighting the three most frequently accessed applications or websites within a 24-hour window. Microsoft’s Windows Insider team noted, “The new homepage brings your recent activity and top-used content front and center, enabling you to easily get back to your previous tasks.”

The Recall feature now includes a new left-side navigation bar, allowing quick transitions between the homepage and the Timeline feature to review past tasks. These innovations are currently available to Windows Insiders, with plans for broader deployment in the coming months.

The enhancements aim to optimize user efficiency and enhance the overall interface of Windows 11, reflecting Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to usability and productivity improvements in its operating system.

As the software giant tests these features, users can expect continuous updates that refine their experience and interaction with Windows 11.
