Philips Hue Price Increases Scheduled for US Customers

Pricing for various Philips Hue smart lighting and security products is set to rise for US customers after July 1st. Signify, Philips Hue’s parent company, confirmed the increase will occur “as a direct result of tariffs,” following an initial vague notification to customers about upcoming price adjustments, reports 24brussels.

In a statement, Signify emphasized its commitment to offering high-quality products, stating, “We remain committed to providing consumers with high-quality products and features that make smart lighting extraordinary. Signify reserves the right to modify prices based on new or additional tariffs becoming effective in the future.”

While specific product price hikes have not been disclosed, the statement implies that adjustments will likely affect the entire Philips Hue lineup. Customers are already observing increased prices, particularly for the new $219.99 Hue Play Wall Washer light, which is approximately 10 percent more expensive compared to its €199.99 European price when currency fluctuations are considered. Similarly, the recently launched $32.99 Smart Button is priced higher than its predecessor’s $24.99 launch price, even as the European counterpart remains at €21.99 (about $25).

This forthcoming price escalation could motivate US consumers to explore more affordable alternatives, given that Philips Hue’s smart lighting is already among the priciest options available. Competing smart home technology providers may still offer lower prices despite encountering the same 125 percent Trump-era tariff rate on Chinese imports that is affecting the broader industry supply chain.

Concerns arise as Signify’s statement indicates a willingness to impose further price increases in the future, dependent on potential tariff changes. The updated US pricing for Philips Hue products is expected to be made public next week, although it may take additional time for third-party retailers to reflect these changes.
