Emma Meesseman delivered an outstanding performance, contributing 30 points and securing nine rebounds, leading her team to success. The Belgian Cats concluded the group stage in Brno, Czech Republic, with an impeccable record, having defeated Portugal, Montenegro, and the Czech Republic.

This victory marks a historic achievement for the Belgian Cats, as they aim to replicate their success after winning Belgium’s first-ever European basketball title. The team aspires to reach new heights following their recent landmark triumph.

In addition to their EuroBasket ambitions, the Belgian Cats require a strong performance in this tournament to secure a berth in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup next year. Triumphing in EuroBasket would guarantee them a direct entry into the group stage of the World Cup.

The Belgian basketball federation appointed Mike Thibault, a renowned American coach, in January to guide the team toward future successes. At 74 years old, Thibault is recognized as the most accomplished coach in WNBA history and has earned multiple Olympic gold medals with the US women’s national team.
