Russian Drone Attack on Ukraine’s Odesa on July 3
On the night of July 3, starting from 21:30 on July 2, Russia launched an assault on Ukraine, deploying 52 Shahed-type drones and various types of imitation drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force in a Telegram update. Reports indicated that the drones were launched from locations in Russia, including Orel, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
By 08:00, the air defense forces had neutralized 40 hostile Shahed drones and other types of UAVs over eastern and southern Ukraine. Of these, 22 were shot down by offensive means, while 18 were locally lost or suppressed by electronic warfare.
Impacts from the drone strikes were recorded at seven locations, with debris from downed drones landing in one area. Earlier reports indicated that four individuals were hospitalized after a Russian drone hit a high-rise building in Odesa, causing significant damage to one of the building’s entrances.
The situation continues to develop, and Ukrainian officials are monitoring the aftermath of the attacks closely, with potential repercussions on both military and civilian fronts. Reports suggest increasing concerns regarding the frequency and scale of Russian drone operations in the region, escalating the ongoing conflict.
Ukrainian defense officials have called for heightened vigilance while underscoring the need for ongoing international support in addressing these aggressive aerial attacks, which have become a significant aspect of the current military engagements.
