Drone Attacks Target Kharkiv Amid Warnings of Further Strikes
Kharkiv experienced an assault involving two enemy Shahed drones early on July 7, with the attack reported at 5:29 AM by local mayor Ihor Terekhov via Telegram. The Shevchenko district of the city was reportedly hit, and the extent of the damage is still being assessed, reports 24brussels.
An air raid alert was issued in Kharkiv at 4:26 AM. Shortly thereafter, Terekhov warned that the aerial attack was ongoing, as additional combat drones were approaching Pyatykhatky, urging residents to remain vigilant for potential secondary strikes on the city.
By 5:43 AM, the mayor reported hearing four explosions within Kharkiv. Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed at 5:48 AM that a drone had impacted the Shevchenko district, igniting a fire on the ninth floor with preliminary reports indicating no casualties. Emergency services are active at the scene.
At 5:53 AM, Terekhov updated that there were casualties in the building affected by the drone, with an additional drone strike reported on a multi-story building in the Slobidsky district.
Earlier reports indicated that, on the same day during a drone attack on Kyiv, debris fell in the Desnyansky and Solomiansky districts of the capital.
