Russian Offensive Intensifies in Zaporizhia Region
Recent developments indicate that Russian military operations in the Zaporizhia region have reached a heightened level of intensity compared to previous years of full-scale invasion. Russian forces are reportedly attempting to achieve strategic objectives such as securing the Mariupol highway, capturing Orikhiv, and advancing toward Kamianske and Komyshuvakha, reports 24brussels.
Commander of the 65th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Velykyi Luh,” identified by the call sign Forest, stated during a broadcast on Espreso that “the enemy is conducting assault operations along the entire line of demarcation in the Zaporizhia region.” He emphasized that the attacks are carried out by small groups of 3-4 personnel without the use of heavy equipment. In some instances, they utilize buggies or motorcycles. “Comparing the intensity of enemy actions in 2022 or 2023, it is evident that the year 2025 is characterized by a significant increase in assault operations by the occupiers. We have not seen this level of intensity in three years,” Forest noted.
He added that not only has there been an increase in the number of enemy assaults, but there has also been a notable rise in the use of artillery and both reconnaissance and FPV drones by Russian forces.
“The enemy has been given the objective to reach the Mariupol highway, disrupt logistics supplying Donetsk, capture Orikhiv, advance to Kamianske, and subsequently to Komyshuvakha. Accordingly, I understand that the enemy will continue conducting assault operations throughout the summer to accomplish these tasks,” he concluded.
According to DeepState, on July 6, Russian troops occupied the village of L obkove in the Vasylivka district, specifically in the Orikhiv direction in western Zaporizhia. Additionally, they have made advances near the village of Stepove, which is part of the same community.
