Germany’s Chancellor Affirms Ongoing Support for Ukraine Amidst Rising Tensions

The Chancellor asserted, “The federal government that I lead will do everything in its power to prevent this.” He further noted the necessity for the German Armed Forces, the Bundeswehr, to receive prompt support to ensure Germany’s defense.
Reports indicate that German legislators are requesting increased financial assistance for Ukraine. This demand was articulated in a letter from members of the Greens party to Merz. Additionally, Germany is exploring the possibility of supplying Ukraine with more Patriot missile systems, even though the current wait time for such deliveries is approximately four to five years.
