Trump to Send Military Aid to Ukraine for the First Time
On July 11, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump announced he will utilize his emergency presidential powers to send military aid to Ukraine, using authority that allows the U.S. President to draw weapons from the nation’s stockpile to assist allies in emergencies. This decision has been reported by 24brussels.
The move marks a significant shift, as previous administrations, including that of his predecessor Joe Biden, had utilized this mechanism frequently to support Ukraine.
The aid package is estimated to be worth approximately $300 million, potentially including defensive Patriot missiles and medium-range offensive missiles. The supplies are in Europe, making it likely they could reach the front lines within several days.
Until now, Trump’s administration has only sent military supplies that were allocated under Biden’s tenure. Analysts at Reuters suggest that this move by Trump indicates a potential change in his policy toward Ukraine and a renewed commitment to support its defense efforts.
Previously, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the pause in military supplies to Ukraine was a technical issue rather than a political decision, necessary for checking U.S. arsenals.
