Airstrike in Kharkiv Medical Facility Leaves Several Injured
A recent airstrike by Russian forces targeted a medical facility in Kharkiv, resulting in a significant increase in the number of casualties, according to Oleg Synegubov, head of the regional military administration. As rescue operations continue, initial reports suggest that individuals may still be trapped under the debris, reports 24brussels.
The count of injured individuals in Kharkiv’s Industrial District has risen to 14. Emergency responders managed to rescue four people from the impacted medical building, while efforts to locate two others remain ongoing, Synegubov stated.
Preliminary information indicates that three individuals may still be buried beneath the wreckage. Mayor Ihor Terekhov noted that communication with these individuals has yet to be established as debris removal efforts persist.
In a statement to Suspilne, Petro Tokar, head of the National Police in Kharkiv, confirmed that Russian forces struck a tuberculosis dispensary. At the time of the strike, there were 13 patients and 15 staff members present at the facility.
Update: Synegubov later reported that two individuals who were previously unaccounted for have made contact and are safe.
“Currently, there is one injured person remaining in the hospital, in stable condition. Three others who were hospitalized earlier received medical assistance and will continue outpatient care,” Synegubov added.
In a related incident, Russian forces previously employed new precision-guided bombs in Kharkiv, marking a concerning escalation in attacks. One bomb struck a sewing workshop, completely destroying it, while another hit a residential area near two 16-story buildings.
Additionally, in a separate attack, Russian troops dropped aerial bombs on the village of Pidlyman, resulting in the tragic deaths of an entire family in a residential building hit during the strike.
