Iran Denounces Western Accusations of Intelligence Threats

On August 1, 2025, Iran strongly rejected accusations from 15 Western nations which condemned alleged “growing threats” posed by Iranian intelligence services within their borders, reports 24brussels.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei described these allegations as “baseless and ridiculous,” asserting they serve merely to distract from pressing global issues, particularly the ongoing violence in occupied Palestine. Baghaei characterized the claims as “blatant lies” and labeled them part of a “malicious Iranophobia campaign” targeting the Iranian populace.

Baghaei further remarked on the unprovoked military actions undertaken by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, as well as the widespread violence in Gaza, which he claimed occurs with the “active support or silence” from the very nations that issued the statement against Iran.

The statement condemning Iran was co-signed by the governments of the U.S., U.K., Albania, Austria, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden. In response, Baghaei emphasized that such actions violate international law and the United Nations Charter, insisting that the signatory nations be held responsible for their “inappropriate and irresponsible conduct.”

This exchange reflects ongoing tensions between Iran and Western nations, particularly regarding regional security and accusations of destabilizing activities. As the international community continues to grapple with complex geopolitical dynamics, these allegations and counter-allegations are likely to shape future diplomatic relations in the region.
