Russian Attacks Continue in Sumy Amid Escalating Hostilities

On August 1, 2025, Russian occupiers launched an attack on a train station in Sumy using two drones, damaging a passenger train, reports 24brussels.

Ukrzaliznytsia and the Sumy Regional Military Administration confirmed the incident. Windows were shattered on train No. 45 traveling from Kharkiv to Uzhhorod. Fortunately, there were no injuries, as railway workers quickly relocated passengers to alternative carriages. The train resumed its journey on schedule.

Sumy has been under continuous assault, with the Russian military attempting to advance in the area to create a buffer zone and threaten the city with artillery and drone strikes. Attacks on the city and its surroundings occur daily.

It is noted that on July 26, Russian forces struck civilian infrastructure in Sumy, causing parts of the city and the surrounding region to lose electricity. Currently, emergency services are addressing the aftermath of the recent shelling, and energy workers are working to restore power to residents.
