Houthi Rebels Claim Drone Attacks on Israeli Military Targets

Yemen’s Houthi rebels announced responsibility for three drone strikes targeting Israeli military installations in Jaffa, Ashkelon, and Haifa on Sunday, August 3, 2025. This action is part of their ongoing support for the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip, reports 24brussels.

Yahya Sarea, the spokesman for the Houthis, stated that “The Unmanned Air Force of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out three qualitative military operations against three targets of the Israeli enemy, using three drones.” Two of these operations were directed at military objectives in Jaffa and Ashkelon, while the third targeted the port of Haifa.

Details regarding potential casualties or damage from these strikes were not disclosed. Sarea emphasized the Houthis’ solidarity with the Palestinian people, who he claimed are facing severe aggression and a humanitarian crisis due to ongoing violence and blockades.

He remarked, “Silence on the genocidal war against our brothers in Gaza is a disgrace and a shame that will continue to haunt this nation throughout its history, and its consequences will be disastrous for all peoples and all countries, sooner or later.”

On the prior Wednesday, the Houthis had claimed responsibility for a hypersonic ballistic missile attack targeting Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, which was intercepted by the Israeli Defense Forces. Since the escalation of the Israeli offensive in Gaza on October 7, 2023, the Houthi rebels, who have strong backing from Iran, have launched hundreds of missiles against Israeli territories, demonstrating their commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause.

The situation remains tense as these developments unfold, with significant implications for regional security and the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely as violence persists and humanitarian concerns grow.
