Explosion at Power Substation in Berdyansk Disrupts Russian Military Operations

On August 3, 2025, a significant explosion occurred at a power substation in the temporarily occupied city of Berdyansk, Zaporizhia region, disrupting electricity supply to facilities repairing Russian military equipment. The blast ignited a fire in the transformers, rendering the substation inoperative, reports 24brussels.

Following the occupation of the city, Russian forces converted the workshops of the “Berdyansk Harvesters” factory into a major repair base and storage site for military equipment, weapons, and a housing area for troops.

Local residents were the first to report the powerful explosion on social media. Eyewitnesses later shared videos and information indicating that one of the city’s substations caught fire for unknown reasons, leading to power outages on several nearby streets.

Currently, security services are assessing the final consequences of the explosion and calculating the extent of the damage.

Previously, on August 2, Ukrainian forces conducted a precision strike on military facilities in the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhia region, successfully destroying a S-300 missile system. This action reduces the capacity of Russian forces to shell the infrastructure of border villages and cities, significantly diminishing their long-range fire capabilities.
