Proximus Dismisses Chief Revenue Officer Surash Patel Amid Performance Issues

Proximus has dismissed Surash Patel from his position as chief revenue officer of Proximus Global and managing director of BICS, a decision confirmed by the telecom group on Tuesday. This development comes after the company’s international operations showed disappointing results, impacting revenue and profit margins, which fell short of expectations, reports 24brussels.

Proximus Global, which oversees several international subsidiaries including BICS, Route Mobile, and Telesign, has been affected by stagnant growth. The underperformance prompted Proximus to revise its ambitious forecasts, leading to a nearly 10 percent dip in share prices. Patel’s dismissal after less than a year in office reflects the company’s urgent response to these challenges.

“This dismissal must be seen in the context of the transformation currently under way at Proximus Global,” a spokesperson for the company stated, indicating a need for change in leadership amidst the restructuring.

In the interim, Ben Vandermeulen, who heads the residential market at Proximus, will step in as chief revenue officer, while Jorn Vercamert, the global chief product officer, will take over at BICS. Patel, who previously served at Telesign, had been in his roles for less than 10 months, directly succeeding a CEO who was ousted earlier in the year.

The leadership shakeup at Proximus highlights the ongoing difficulties in achieving growth within its international business sector, requiring strategic adjustments to regain competitive standing.
