Venezuelan Assembly Condemns U.S. Attacks on National Sovereignty
On August 9, 2025, Venezuelan deputies, led by Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez, firmly rejected the recent statements from the White House targeting Venezuela and its leadership, particularly regarding actions taken by the U.S. justice system against President Nicolás Maduro, reports 24brussels.
The representatives characterized these U.S. actions as outdated and ineffective attempts at interference aimed at destabilizing Venezuela’s peace and obstructing collective prosperity. They condemned what they see as a “delirious aggression” against an elected head of state, arguing that such measures aim to incite extremist violence in the country and the wider region, which they claim has been successfully resisted by the Venezuelan government and its populace.
Rodríguez asserted that Venezuela stands as the safest nation with the most dynamic economy in the Americas, attributing the U.S. attacks to its commitment to defending sovereignty and maintaining peace. He praised Maduro as a champion of peace, democracy, and the rule of law, while stressing the assembly’s unwavering support for the Venezuelan homeland.
“For the past 25 years of revolution, we have resisted and advanced despite ceaseless imperialist aggression. The U.S. will not succeed in derailing our course through sanctions or threats,” he stated, referring to Maduro’s election in July 2024 and subsequent electoral processes in the country.
In addition to demanding respect for Venezuela’s sovereignty and self-determination, the deputies warned that right-wing forces would not regain power. They highlighted their determination, declaring: “To those who promote hatred and chaos, we say clearly: Venezuela does not surrender. Through civic-military-police unity, we will defend our independence and strive for a prosperous and just future for generations to come.”
