Genk – This weekend, Thor Park in Genk hosted the Geek Village festival, attracting around 8,000 fans of cosplay, comics, and video games. Organiser Glenn Oyen emphasized the variety of activities and themed zones available to attendees, reports 24brussels.
VRT News reported that the three-day festival transformed Thor Park into a bustling hub for enthusiasts from Belgium and beyond. The venue featured colorful decorations and interactive experiences, engaging visitors in diverse activities throughout the park.

Lara expressed, noting her commitment to crafting costumes and her four years of attending similar events, particularly Elfia in the Netherlands. She emphasized the significance of hosting a festival of this caliber in Genk.
“The festival has grown nicely; it’s fantastic,”
she added.
Kevin van der Ougstrate from Antwerp and his daughter Kayly also participated, with Kayly dressed as Maleficent, a popular character from Disney. Kevin remarked on their shared interests in different genres.
“Marvel has always been my thing, my daughter is more into Disney films,”
he noted.
“It’s our first time in Genk, the location is beautiful, and the selection is very varied.”
Geek Village aims to celebrate and promote geek and pop culture, encompassing comics, cosplay, video games, and films. Inspired by similar events in the Netherlands and across Europe, the festival has established its annual presence in Genk.
The inaugural edition of Geek Village occurred on November 17, 2024, at Thor Central in Genk, laying the groundwork for what has become a much-anticipated yearly tradition that continues to grow, drawing thousands of visitors each season.
