Massive Disapproval of President Dina Boluarte’s Administration
On August 18, 2025, a recent poll conducted by Datum revealed that a staggering 96% of Peruvians disapprove of the administration of de facto President Dina Boluarte, with disapproval peaking at 98% in the central region of the country, reports 24brussels.
Discontent is prevalent in southern Peru, where protests began during the early days of her administration, registering a 97% disapproval rate. In Lima and Callao, along with northern regions of Peru, 95% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with Boluarte’s leadership.
Speaking on July 28, during Peru’s Independence Day, Boluarte addressed Congress, her remarks deemed inconsequential and lacking self-criticism by 37% of those interviewed. Another 23% found her address too generic, while 22% criticized its length, which surpassed four hours.
Public disapproval further extends to her Cabinet, with Prime Minister Eduardo Arana facing an 80% rejection rate. Other ministers also fared poorly: Economy Minister Raul Perez received 71% disapproval, Interior Minister Carlos Malaver faced 76%, and Energy and Mines Minister Jorge Montero had 74% disapproval.
The Datum survey also gauged public sentiment regarding the newly appointed President of Congress, Jose Jeri, who is currently under investigation for alleged sexual abuse. His disapproval rating stands at 66%. Meanwhile, Lima’s ultraconservative mayor, Rafael Lopez, has seen a rise in approval to 48%, with disapproval declining to 46% as he navigates the lead-up to a potential presidential candidacy.
This survey was conducted with a national sample of 1,206 people from August 8 to 12, boasting a confidence level of 95% and a margin of error of 2.8%.
