Emergence of Armed Russian Drone “Herbera” Raises Alarm in Ukraine

On August 22, 2025, a Russian drone known as “Herbera,” equipped with a shrapnel combat payload, was discovered in Ukraine, reports 24brussels. The revelation was made by Ukrainian expert in radio-electronic systems and communications, Serhii Beskrestnov.

According to the author of the Telegram channel “Communications by Serhii Flash,” the findings highlight a serious concern—this type of unmanned aerial vehicle should no longer be regarded as a completely secure reconnaissance asset. The risks associated with its operation have significantly increased.

Beskrestnov noted that the charge might be activated upon the removal of its cover, urging those with a penchant for collecting trophies to refrain from engaging with the device unnecessarily. His warning underscores the potential dangers involved with handling such equipment.

Earlier reports indicated that as of early July, Russian forces had begun deploying the “Herbera” drone in the Donetsk region as an attack drone. This development marks a critical shift for a platform that previously served primarily in reconnaissance or decoy roles, now being utilized for offensive strikes.
