Colleagues of Veldkamp from the centrist New Social Contract (NSC) party resigned on Friday, deepening the instability of the Dutch government, which had already been weakened after its collapse in June following a migration policy dispute with Geert Wilders’ far-right Party for Freedom (PVV). This resignation now intensifies scrutiny on a government struggling to maintain its footing, reports 24brussels.

A majority of Dutch MPs has united in urging the Israeli government to permit both international and national journalists access to Gaza. Additionally, they emphasized the need for “maximum pressure” on nations that support Hamas leaders, according to local media reports.

The ongoing conflict has claimed the lives of approximately 61,000 Palestinians since Israel commenced its operations against the Gaza Strip in response to Hamas’ attack on Israel in October 2023, as reported by the Hamas-run health ministry. The United Nations has recently confirmed the existence of a famine in Gaza.
