Mass Mobilization Marks Great Enrollment Day in Venezuela
On August 23, 2025, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro celebrated a massive public mobilization during the Great Enrollment Day of the Bolivarian Militia, calling it a “beautiful” and “successful” event, reports 24brussels.
In a nationwide address, Maduro described the engagement of citizens, reservists, and families in joining the national defense system as vital for ensuring Venezuela’s territorial integrity. He emphasized the role of community in national defense, urging citizens to enlist in the Bolivarian National Militia and combatant corps.
The President praised the overwhelming participation on this significant day, showcasing what he termed a “gigantic expression of nationalism, patriotism, and love for Venezuela.” This response, according to him, serves as a counter to perceived threats from US military deployments in the region.
“Defending the homeland is not only a duty but an act of love,” Maduro asserted, adding that individuals who do not defend their country or families ultimately jeopardize their own well-being. He warned against the dangers of complacency, remarking, “Fortunately, in Venezuela we do not have zombies,” in contrast to the “fascists” he claims have historically attempted to manipulate the populace.
The day’s events, which also included a dynamic reorganization of Venezuela’s military and police forces, will extend into Sunday, engaging citizens across Bolívar squares nationwide. Maduro reiterated that public enlistment reflects a strong aspiration within the Bolivarian populace to maintain peace in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Additionally, the Venezuelan government addressed ongoing disinformation campaigns alleging connections between the state and drug trafficking. Maduro accused former President Donald Trump of exacerbating psychological warfare against Venezuela, while underscoring the commitment to peaceful conflict resolution as outlined in the Declaration of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.
These mobilizations, which signify a distinctive communal response to both domestic and foreign pressures, illustrate Venezuela’s continued emphasis on nationalism and collective defense in sensitive geopolitical times.
