Intense Combat Maintains in Pokrovsk Direction

On August 26, 2025, ongoing fierce battles characterize the Pokrovsk direction, where Russian forces continue to launch offensives despite heavy casualties, reports 24brussels.

Ukrainian artillery officer from the Fourth Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine “Rubizh,” Volodymyr Nazarenko, noted that the Russian military holds a numerical advantage and is actively deploying infantry groups to assault positions and maneuver across fields. “There are constant automatic skirmishes, gunfights, and ongoing artillery or mortar duels,” he emphasized.

According to Nazarenko, Russian troops possess a substantial number of drones and artillery resources, which they continue to utilize in combat. Ukrainian forces are actively identifying and striking these assets. He indicated that the aggressor nation has the resources necessary to sustain military operations.

Nazarenko described recent advances by Russian forces in the region of Dobropillia as attempts to “massively infiltrate reconnaissance-diversion groups” under the cover of terrain. The Ukrainian defenders are neutralizing most of these groups at the detection stage, with the remainder dealt with in combat. He asserted that the occupiers have been unable to reinforce their primary forces in this area.

Previously, a spokesperson from the Joint Task Force “Dnipro” stated that the Russian military has amassed over 110,000 soldiers in the Pokrovsk direction, which is double the number of residents in Pokrovsk prior to the full-scale war. The occupation forces near Dobropillia aim to destabilize the logistics of Ukrainian units and compel them to disperse their forces.
