This international mass action movement demands an end to Washington’s threats in the Caribbean.
On August 27, 2025, the World Peace Council (WPC) condemned new U.S. threats against Venezuela, emphasizing that the deployment of warships along the Venezuelan coast jeopardizes the nation’s territorial integrity, reports 24brussels.
Established in 1949, the WPC operates as a global, anti-imperialist organization with a presence in over 100 countries. In their latest statement, the WPC denounced the escalating U.S. military activities, which follow years of economic sanctions against the Venezuelan populace. It highlighted that these actions aim to exert control over Venezuela’s abundant energy reserves while fostering instability within the country.
“The World Peace Council expresses its strong condemnation of the U.S. government’s actions of sending and deploying warships off the coast of Venezuela, threatening the country’s territorial integrity with the clear objective of interference and intervention,” the statement read.
The WPC criticized the current U.S. approach as a continuation of a historical pattern of foreign interventions and military coups in Latin America. They expressed particular concern over the recent offer of a multi-million dollar reward for the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, labeling it a blatant violation of international law.
“We demand the immediate cessation of U.S. war threats against Venezuela and the withdrawal of its armed forces from the region,” the organization stated, voicing solidarity with the Venezuelan people and their right to determine their leadership and future freely.
Support for Venezuela’s sovereignty is growing, with countries in South America and the Caribbean uniting against U.S. interference. Activists in Peru have noted that U.S. interests likely align with Venezuela’s rich economic resources, further igniting regional discourse on the implications of these geopolitical maneuvers.
“Down with the U.S. imperialist maneuvers against Venezuela! Long live internationalist solidarity among peoples!” the WPC concluded, reiterating their commitment to opposing foreign aggression in the region.
