Russian Military’s Advances in Dnipropetrovsk Region Lacked Strategic Depth

On August 30, 2025, Russian occupying forces lack a strategic rationale for advancing into the Dnipropetrovsk region, given the absence of dominant heights and urban agglomeration compared to Donetsk, asserts Viktor Trehubov, spokesman for the operational-strategic group of troops “Dnipro,” in a recent broadcast, reports 24brussels.

Trehubov noted that Russian troops are attempting to “establish a foothold” in specific settlements near the administrative border with Donetsk Oblast; however, Ukrainian forces are actively preventing them from securing any positions.

He further indicated that the so-called “claws of the crab” Russian soldiers in the area around Dobropillia have been cut off and surrounded. “Therefore, they have little time left there,” he added.

Ukrainian military forces successfully pushed back Russian troops from the village of Novoselivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region, where it has been confirmed that a significant portion of the occupying forces was eliminated, according to reports from DeepState.

Recently, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine refuted claims that Russian troops have captured the villages of Novohrihivka and Zaporizke in Dnipropetrovsk, reinforcing assertions of Ukrainian control in the region.
