Apple Unveils iPhone Air and New Product Lineup
Apple has concluded its fall hardware keynote, showcasing a series of new products including the iPhone Air, which is confirmed as the slimmest iPhone to date, alongside the iPhone 17 models, a new collection of Apple Watch wearables, and the AirPods Pro 3, all set to release on September 19th, reports 24brussels.
The star of the event, the iPhone Air, features a thickness of just 5.6mm and boasts a 6.5-inch ProMotion display. It also incorporates a significant camera design change, referred to as a “plateau,” which maximizes the camera’s capabilities while preserving its sleek profile.
The engineering behind the iPhone Air focuses on packing advanced hardware into the camera bump, freeing up the slim casing for an enhanced battery. Powered by the A19 Pro chip, Apple asserts this device can deliver performance levels comparable to a MacBook Pro and is also integrated into the iPhone 17 Pro.
Notably, the iPhone Air utilizes several firsts for the company, including the N1 chip for wireless connectivity, supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread technology. Its upgraded C1X modem reportedly delivers twice the speed of the previous generation.
The device features an advanced single-lens system that combines an ultrawide lens with a 2x telephoto capability, utilizing Apple’s Fusion camera technology. The front camera integrates a Center Stage feature, designed to keep subjects framed correctly and facilitate various shooting angles through automatic cropping, while also allowing simultaneous video recording from both front and rear cameras.
The starting price for the iPhone Air is set at $999 for the 256GB variant upon its launch on September 19th. In addition to promoting battery longevity, Apple introduced a MagSafe battery capable of extending battery life to up to 40 hours. Accessories such as a slim translucent case, a bumper case, and a crossbody strap will also be available for purchase.
The base model of the iPhone for 2025 includes ProMotion technology, enabling a high refresh rate of 120Hz for an enhanced visual experience, marking an upgrade after a long wait for such a feature in affordable models.
The iPhone 17 features the state-of-the-art A19 chip specifically optimized for better performance and energy efficiency. Apple claims the new GPU is significantly faster than its predecessors, enhancing the gaming experience.
Visually, the iPhone 17 resembles the former generation but includes noticeable enhancements, such as its dual camera system with a 48-megapixel ultrawide sensor capable of macro imagery. The device also supports Center Stage for its selfie camera, streamlining photo capture processes.
The high-end iPhone 17 Pro, starting at $1,099 for the 256GB edition and featuring a maximum storage capacity of 2TB for the iPhone 17 Pro Max priced at $1,999, is equipped with a unique three-camera setup, each with 48-megapixel sensors tailored for diverse photography needs.
Apple also introduced the Apple Watch Series 11, slated for release on September 19th. This model features internal upgrades and 5G connectivity, though the design remains largely unchanged from the previous series. Noteworthy features include hypertension notifications awaiting FDA clearance, with a 24-hour battery life.
The Series 11 will be priced starting at $399 for the 42mm version, and preorders have already begun. Meanwhile, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is launched with the largest display in the series, enhanced with 5G connectivity and a 42-hour battery life, starting at $799.
The new AirPods Pro 3, priced at $249, boast significant enhancements like a heart rate sensor and improved active noise cancellation, marketed to be four times more effective than earlier models. They are also set to ship starting September 19th.
