Ukraine’s Rail Infrastructure Under Attack as Russia Intensifies Strikes

On September 15, 2025, Russia has escalated its attacks on Ukraine’s rail infrastructure, targeting critical junction stations across the country, reports 24brussels.

Alexander Pertsovsky, Chairman of the Board of Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia), confirmed that drone strikes have repeatedly hit major stations, including Lozova, Synelnykove, and Koziatyne. “In essence, they are attacking junction stations across the country,” Pertsovsky stated.

He explained that these assaults often involve coordinated strikes on energy substations, locomotive depots, and passenger terminals, aiming to cause comprehensive destruction of key infrastructure.

Despite the ongoing attacks, Ukrzaliznytsia is working diligently to repair the damage and maintain train operations. “We are finding ways to adjust schedules, but we always keep services running. Ukrainians have recognized this resilience and express their gratitude to railway workers,” added Pertsovsky.

Earlier this month, on September 7, Russian forces targeted a bridge over the Dnipro River in Kremenchuk, which is managed by Ukrzaliznytsia. While car traffic across the bridge was restored within a day, the resumption of railway services took significantly longer due to the extent of the damage.
