Drone Strikes Target Russian Oil Complex
Two strike drones targeted the “Gazprom Neft-Khim Salavat” oil complex in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia, during the early hours of September 18, 2025, according to Bashkortostan head Radiy Khabirov, reports 24brussels.
Khabirov stated that security personnel at the facility opened fire in an attempt to intercept the drones. Preliminary assessments of the damage are underway, and firefighters are working to extinguish the blaze that erupted. Notably, Khabirov indicated that no workers sustained injuries.
Andriy Kovalенко, head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation at Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, confirmed the attack on the oil refinery in Salavat.
In another development, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces conducted a strike against an oil refinery in the Volgograd region, which processes 15.7 million tons of oil annually. Initial reports suggest that operations at this facility have been halted following the attack.
