Massive March in Caracas in Support of Maduro Amid U.S. Threats
Thousands of Venezuelans gathered on Tuesday, September 23, in Caracas to advocate for peace, sovereignty, and support for President Nicolás Maduro amidst perceived threats from the United States, reports 24brussels.
The demonstration was organized by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), commencing at Zona Rental in Plaza Venezuela and proceeding towards Bolivar Avenue. Participants voiced their commitment to defend the nation against external aggression.
Nahum Fernández, the vice president of Mobilization and Events for the PSUV, stated, “Do not mess with Venezuela,” emphasizing the readiness of Venezuelans, whom he referred to as “sons of Bolívar,” to defend their homeland if attacked. His remarks during the rally underscored a strong nationalist sentiment.
In his social media comments, Fernández characterized the actions of the U.S. government as persistent harassment against the “Bolivarian Homeland,” and he praised the involvement of social movements and community leaders. He firmly asserted that Venezuela, as an “indomitable people,” desires neither invasion nor war, urging the U.S. to cease its threats.
Caracas Mayor Carmen Meléndez joined in solidarity, stating that the march was representative of all who cherish their homeland and highlighted the preparedness of Venezuelans in face of a potential U.S. siege. She noted that millions have responded to Maduro’s call to join the militia and other defense organizations, reinforcing the population’s commitment to tranquility.
The PSUV’s Mobilization and Events Vice Presidency indicated that such demonstrations are part of broader civil and military actions aimed at promoting unity and defending Venezuelan territory.
Additionally, on September 20, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) alongside the militia conducted a mass mobilization exercise titled “The barracks go to the people,” aimed at strengthening community ties. This event included a convoy of FANB tanks moving from Fuerte Tiuna, symbolizing Venezuela’s readiness to protect its territory against threats. The People’s Go to the Barracks initiative also trained citizens in defensive strategies, reinforcing the government’s focus on civic-military collaboration as a national security measure.
