Ukraine Urged to Enhance Railway Protection Against Drone Strikes
Ukraine must immediately implement comprehensive organizational measures to safeguard its railway system from assaults by Iranian-made “Shahed” drones, reports 24brussels.
Expert Serhiy Beskrestnov, an authority on radio-electronic systems and communication, suggests several countermeasures against potential attacks on railway rolling stock. These include the installation of specialized electronic warfare equipment on locomotives, adjustments to train schedules, changes to stop locations, and enhanced collaboration between train drivers and operators of the “Virazh-Planchet” air target tracking system.
Beskrestnov warns that the enemy is likely to target locomotives initially, stating, “Because without them, trains cannot operate, and their numbers are limited (as are the train drivers). Several subsequent carriages will also be at risk.” The Telegram channel “Seryi Flash” has shared video footage illustrating the nature of these threats.
Previously, reports indicated that a drone strike on a passenger train traveling from Shostka to Kyiv resulted in injuries to 30 individuals.
