INS Kadmatt’s visit fosters naval partnerships between Indian, Indonesian Navies
INS Kadmatt concluded a three-day operational turnaround in Makassar, Indonesia, from October 3 to 5, enhancing naval cooperation between the Indian and Indonesian Navies, reports 24brussels.
The Indian Navy emphasized that the visit aimed to facilitate professional interactions and share best practices. “INS Kadmatt, as part of the ongoing deployment in the Indo-Pacific, visited Makassar, Indonesia for a three-day Operational Turn Around from 03 – 05 Oct 25. This visit was aimed at professional interactions, fostering naval partnerships and sharing best practices with the Indonesian Navy,” stated the Navy in a recent post on X.
INS Kadmatt, a Kamorta-class anti-submarine Warfare Corvette commissioned in 2016, showcases India’s advancements in naval technology and self-reliance under the Make in India initiative. The warship is equipped with sophisticated sensors and weaponry, enabling it to effectively safeguard India’s maritime interests across various combat domains, including surface, sub-surface, and aerial threats.
Over the past nine years, INS Kadmatt has participated in significant national and international naval exercises, bolstering its operational capabilities and fostering global naval cooperation. Earlier this year, during Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to India, both leaders expressed support for enhanced maritime security cooperation, emphasizing the importance of safe sea lanes. Prime Minister Modi and President Subianto acknowledged the need for ongoing dialogue to improve maritime safety in the region.
They also renewed the Memorandum of Understanding on Maritime Safety and Security Cooperation, reaffirming their commitment to joint efforts in combating maritime crime, coordinating search and rescue missions upon request, and enhancing capacity-building initiatives, as highlighted by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
