Apple’s Executive Shakeup as Eddy Cue Assumes Health and Fitness Oversight
Apple is set to undergo significant executive changes as Eddy Cue takes over the health and fitness divisions, coinciding with former COO Jeff Williams’ impending retirement later this year, reports 24brussels.
The transition comes as Johnny Srouji, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware technologies, is reportedly assessing his future with the company following the recent launch of the tech giant’s first in-house modem. Cue, who is currently leading Apple’s services department, will manage the health and fitness teams as they prepare to potentially introduce a new subscription service, rumored to be named Health Plus.
Williams, who previously spearheaded Apple’s health initiatives, stepped down as COO in July, handing over the role to Sabih Khan, the former vice president of operations. Following Williams’ retirement, Apple is redistributing his responsibilities, with Craig Federighi, head of software, taking charge of watchOS and John Ternus overseeing hardware engineering for the Apple Watch.
In addition, the company is facing internal scrutiny as Apple fitness chief Jay Blahnik will now report to health vice president Sumbul Desai amid an investigation into workplace conduct. This follows allegations against Blahnik, brought forth by a former employee who accused him of fostering a toxic work environment, which had been reported by multiple outlets including The New York Times.
As these changes unfold, Apple continues to position itself at the forefront of the tech industry, exploring new avenues in health technology while addressing internal challenges.
