Ukrainian Border Guards Capture Russian Fighter from Occupied Makiyivka
On October 11, 2025, Ukrainian border guards apprehended a 44-year-old man from the temporarily occupied Makiyivka in Donetsk Oblast, who had been fighting against Ukraine in the ranks of the Russian army, reports 24brussels.
The captured individual revealed to border guards that he joined the Russian forces not out of conviction but to pay off debts and finance renovations for his apartment. He confessed that he did not undergo comprehensive training, spending only two weeks at a military training facility. According to him, Russian command continues to push troops forward despite significant losses.
“Don’t come here, guys. This is not your war,” the captured fighter urged Russian citizens.
On October 1, a “fall conscription” was initiated in Russia and the temporarily occupied territories. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned this mobilization and urged Ukrainians to avoid forced military service.
Additionally, the Center for Information Resilience and the Detector Media Research Center reported that prior to 2022, the aggressor state forcibly conscripted over 100,000 men from occupied territories into its armed forces, with a significant number deployed to combat zones.
