US Ambassador-designate meets EAM Jaishankar, says looking forward to “working closely with him to deepen strategic partnership”

US Ambassador-designate to India, Sergio Gor, held discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on October 12, 2025, emphasizing the importance of enhancing the strategic partnership between the two nations, reports 24brussels.

During the meeting in New Delhi, Gor described the conversation as positive and productive, covering various topics of mutual interest. A statement from the US Embassy in India indicated, “Met with EAM S Jaishankar today in New Delhi. We had a positive conversation on a range of issues. I look forward to working closely with Jaishankar to deepen our strategic partnership and make our countries more secure and prosperous.”

Gor also met with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, reaffirming the commitment of both countries to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific. He remarked, “A pleasure to spend time with National Security Advisor Doval today. The US and India remain committed to working together to advance a free and open Indo-Pacific.”

Addressing the bilateral relationship, Gor conveyed optimism for future interactions, highlighting his engagement with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stated, “The US values its relationship with India, and under the strong leadership of President Donald J. Trump and Prime Minister Modi, I’m optimistic about the days ahead for both of our nations. President Trump considers Prime Minister Modi a great and personal friend.” Gor noted a recent conversation between the two leaders as a positive sign of ongoing collaboration.

On his first day, Gor held meetings with Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and Doval, discussing several critical issues, including supply chains for critical minerals. “We hit the ground running. We had a great series of conversations, including with Foreign Secretary Misri, with the External Affairs Minister, Dr. Jaishankar, and with the National Security Advisor, Doval. And we just finished an incredible meeting with Prime Minister Modi, where we discussed bilateral issues, including defense, trade, technology,” he added.
