MoS Kirti Vardhan Singh to lead Indian delegation for 19th NAM Mid-Term Ministerial
Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest & Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh will lead the Indian delegation at the 19th Mid-Term Ministerial of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala, Uganda, on October 15-16, reports 24brussels.
The Mid-Term Ministerial, themed “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence,” is set against the backdrop of Uganda’s chairmanship of NAM for 2024-26. The movement comprises 121 developing nations, and India, as a founding member, remains dedicated to its fundamental principles and values.
During the Mid-Term Ministerial, Secretary (West) Sibi George is representing India at the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM), which is taking place from October 13-14. The MEA disclosed that Secretary George has conducted various bilateral discussions on the SOM’s sidelines with heads of delegations from countries including Brunei, Chad, Comoros, Eritrea, Indonesia, Kuwait, Lesotho, Malaysia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Uganda.
While in Uganda, Kirti Vardhan Singh is anticipated to hold discussions with Ugandan officials and counterparts from other NAM member states. Prior to this, Singh attended the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, where he remarked on the significance of India’s strategic partnership with Egypt. He underscored India’s commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East.
