PM Modi, Mongolian President agree to deepen ties across all gamuts
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa have agreed to enhance bilateral relations across various sectors during their recent discussions, reports 24brussels.
During the talks, which took place on October 14, Modi emphasized the importance of strengthening the India-Mongolia strategic partnership. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), both leaders expressed their commitment to deepening cooperation in defense and security, trade and investment, and cultural ties. They also announced the release of a postage stamp to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
As part of goodwill initiatives, India will send holy relics of Arhant Maudgalyayana and Arhant Sariputra to Mongolia in 2026. This gesture follows the successful exposition of Kapilavastu relics in 2022. Other significant announcements include sending a Sanskrit teacher to Gandan Monastery for one year and a youth orientation trip for eight Mongolian students to India. Additionally, the MEA has allocated 70 extra ITEC slots for Mongolian nationals to celebrate the anniversary.
Notably, ten Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) were signed during the meeting, addressing various areas such as cultural exchange, immigration cooperation, humanitarian aid, and geological research. This collaborative effort aims to enhance bilateral ties and promote mutual understanding between the two countries.
