India sends medical equipment to Sierra Leone to bolster healthcare infrastructure

India dispatches 15 Haemo-Dialysis Machines, along with Portable RO Units and Consumable Kits to Sierra Leone

India has dispatched a consignment of 15 Haemo-Dialysis Machines, accompanied by Portable RO Units and Consumable Kits, from Mundra Port to Sierra Leone on October 14, 2025, reports 24brussels.

The initiative highlights India’s commitment to enhancing public health in Sierra Leone. Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, stated that this humanitarian assistance is a demonstration of solidarity and South-South Cooperation. In a post on X, he remarked, “A gesture of solidarity and South-South Cooperation: India has dispatched a consignment of 15 Haemo-Dialysis Machines, along with Portable RO Units and Consumable Kits, from Mundra Port to Sierra Leone. This humanitarian assistance underscores India’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving public health outcomes in Sierra Leone.”

Previously, on March 10, the second round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) took place, co-chaired by Mr. Sevala Naik Mude, Additional Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, and Alan CE Logan, Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation from Sierra Leone’s side. This meeting allowed both countries to thoroughly review the full spectrum of India-Sierra Leone bilateral relations, focusing on pivotal areas such as trade, investment, health and pharmaceuticals, education, and cultural exchanges.

India reaffirmed its commitment to support Sierra Leone’s capacity building efforts across various sectors and to further solidify the development partnership. Both governments expressed satisfaction with the advancements made regarding India Stack, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on ‘Cooperation in the field of sharing successful digital solutions implemented at population scale for digital transformation.’ Additionally, they discussed subsequent steps for implementing such initiatives.

Discussions also encompassed the need to deepen and diversify bilateral ties into contemporary areas of significance, such as defence cooperation, energy development, and broader development cooperation. Co-chairs engaged in extensive discussions on pressing regional and global matters, including multilateral cooperation within organizations like the United Nations.

Sierra Leone indicated its intention to support India’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the years 2028-29. Furthermore, Sierra Leone has agreed to accelerate the approval process for signing the Agreement of the International Solar Alliance, recognize the Indian Pharmacopoeia, and join the Global Biofuels Alliance.
