What did China say about the Israeli hospital strike?

During a regular press briefing, Guo Jiakun commented on the Israeli strikes, stating,

“We are shocked and condemn the fact that medical personnel and journalists have once again unfortunately lost their lives in the conflict.”

“We express our condolences to the victims and our sympathies to their families.”

Guo further emphasized China’s serious concern about the escalating situation in the Gaza Strip, denouncing

“all actions that harm civilians… including acts of violence against journalists.”

“Israel should immediately stop its military operations in Gaza, achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire as soon as possible, fully restore the entry of humanitarian supplies, prevent a larger-scale humanitarian crisis, and work to ease tensions as quickly as possible,”

he stated.

Media organizations condemned the violence, reiterating the critical role of journalists in covering the conflict. They urged Israeli authorities to take accountability and launch investigations into the deaths. Reuters, Associated Press, and Al Jazeera released statements mourning their slain colleagues, including those killed in the Nasser Hospital strike.

Why is Gaza the deadliest conflict for journalists on record?

The Gaza conflict presents significant dangers for journalists. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), nearly 200 media professionals have been killed while reporting on the ongoing Israeli bombardments over the past two years.
