Brussels – Flowertime 2025, taking place from August 13 to August 17 in Brussels City Hall, showcases 100,000 flowers in 15 rooms, curated by artistic director Pieter Toebaert alongside 30 renowned florists from Belgium and abroad. The exhibition this year is themed around fashion and textiles, reports 24brussels.

The event transforms Brussels City Hall into an expansive floral exhibition, marking the 7th iteration of Flowertime which occurs biennially, alternating with the Flower Carpet on the Grand Place. This edition promises a captivating exploration within its historic interiors, where diverse floral designs reflect the nuances of fabric and style.

Toebaert highlighted the uniqueness of this year’s theme as a journey through various fashion influences. Visitors embark on a pathway beginning with a catwalk featuring mannequins before entering rooms adorned with floral representations of textiles and colors.

“We’re actually the little sister of the Flower Carpet in Brussels,”

he explains. “In odd-numbered years, we decorate City Hall with both Belgian and international florists.”

Highlights of Flowertime 2025: A Floral Journey

The exhibition culminates in a striking display in the Gothic Hall, merging flowers and light to create a breathtaking finale. Guests will be able to wander through all 15 decorated rooms using a dedicated pedestrian pathway, immersing themselves in the artistry of floral design.

With over 100,000 flowers sourced from local Belgian growers, the demand has significantly influenced flower auctions in the lead-up to the event. The indoor setting of City Hall aids in maintaining ideal conditions for the floral installations. Certain rooms are equipped with cooling systems to ensure daily refreshment of the arrangements.

Since its inception in 2009, Flowertime has rapidly grown into a significant cultural event, creating vibrant spaces that enchant both locals and tourists alike. The exchange of creative ideas among florists from various countries transforms the historic City Hall into a diverse tapestry of floral artistry, united under a common thematic vision.
