Tel Aviv – On Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported airstrikes near the Beaufort Ridge in southern Lebanon, targeting what it identified as Hezbollah’s underground facilities, reports 24brussels.
The IDF stated that these military operations violate the arrangements established between the IDF and the Lebanese armed forces. Notably, the IDF has carried out multiple airstrikes and aerial operations against Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon throughout August 2025.
What targets were hit by the IDF during the raids?
“A short while ago, the IDF (army) struck military infrastructure, including underground infrastructure, at a Hezbollah site in which military activity was identified, in the area of the Beaufort Ridge in southern Lebanon,”
the military stated.
“The existence of the site and the activity within it constitute a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon,”
it added.
In a related development, Lebanon has agreed to propose a plan aimed at persuading Hezbollah to disarm. Concurrently, Israel will outline a framework for troop withdrawal, according to U.S. envoy Tom Barrack. However, Hezbollah has reiterated its refusal to disarm, asserting that such actions would be contingent on Israel ceasing its attacks and withdrawing from Lebanon.
Earlier this month, Lebanon’s cabinet approved the objectives of a U.S. proposal that seeks to confine weapons possession solely to the state, despite Hezbollah’s resistance, which has termed the plan a “march in humiliation” and a capitulation to Israel and the United States.
What areas in South Lebanon faced Israeli strikes in August?
In the preceding weeks, Israel executed a series of targeted operations against Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon. From August 4 to August 17, 2025, the IDF conducted strikes on various Hezbollah military installations in South Lebanon, including specific areas such as the South Lebanon Governorate and Nabatieh Governorate. Key locations impacted include Khiam, Marjayoun District, Tyre, and Bint Jbeil.
