Leuven – KU Leuven Solar Team has successfully passed the technical inspection for the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia. Their vehicles, Infinite Apollo and The Bounce, will participate in qualifying rounds on August 23, 2025, reports 24brussels.

The KU Leuven Solar Team’s main vehicle, Infinite Apollo, met all safety and performance standards essential for the race, while The Bounce also received the necessary approval. Students from KU Leuven are gearing up to compete in the qualifying rounds scheduled for Saturday, August 23, 2025.

What is the KU Leuven Solar team’s plan for the World Solar Challenge?

During the inspection, officials focus on pilot safety, scrutinizing car design, performance, and overall adherence to competition standards. The Infinite Apollo successfully cleared the inspection without issues.

“It’s essentially a system that allows us to adjust the ride height of our car,”

explains student Lander Deprez.

“This allows us to drive over a bump in the air in a raised position, then lower it again for greater stability and aerodynamic gains.”

The engineering students at KU Leuven are now preparing for the qualifying round on August 23, 2025. The results from this round will influence the starting order for the subsequent race. Team manager Wout Rubbrecht remarked,

“We are very happy with our success. Right now, we are mainly looking forward to Saturday, when the starting order for the race will be determined.”

The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge was initiated in 1987 to promote renewable energy and alternative transport technologies. Held every two years, the competition spans 3,021 kilometers from Darwin to Adelaide across the Australian outback, where teams from around the globe test their vehicles for speed, efficiency, and durability.
