Moscow – The Russian Foreign Ministry has condemned Israel’s recent attack on Hamas members in Doha, urging all parties involved to refrain from actions that could escalate the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, reports 24brussels.

“Russia considers this incident a gross violation of international law and the UN Charter, an encroachment on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of an independent state, and a step leading to further escalation and destabilisation of the situation in the Middle East,”

stated the Russian Foreign Ministry in an official announcement.

“Such methods of fighting those whom Israel considers its enemies and opponents deserve the strongest condemnation.”

“The rocket attack on Qatar… cannot be perceived as anything other than an action aimed at undermining international efforts to find peaceful solutions,”

the Ministry added.

How many were killed in Israel’s Doha strike?

Israel’s strike on Doha targeted residential buildings housing members of Hamas’s political bureau, as confirmed by a spokesperson from Qatar’s foreign ministry. Qatar has played a pivotal role in mediating ceasefire discussions regarding Gaza.

Israeli officials reported that over 10 fighter jets were deployed in the operation. While Hamas confirmed the deaths of five of its members, it claimed the attack did not hit the negotiating delegation. A Qatari security official also lost their life during the assault.

How did President Trump react to the Israeli attack?

In a statement, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed discontent over the unfolding events, suggesting that Israel’s action against Hamas leaders in Qatar could undermine the potential for a ceasefire in Gaza.

“I’m not thrilled about the whole situation. It’s not a good situation,”

Trump commented, indicating that he would provide a more comprehensive statement later.

What was China’s response to Israel’s strike in Qatar?

On the same day, China’s foreign ministry condemned the Israeli strike and linked it to the “unbalanced stance of certain external powers on Middle East issues,” a reference believed to be directed at the United States.

China reiterated its condemnation of Israel’s violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, with Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the country’s foreign ministry, asserting the need for all parties to act positively to reduce violence and resume negotiations.

“China strongly urges all parties concerned, particularly Israel, to make greater positive efforts to quell the fighting and restart negotiations, rather than the opposite,”

he stated. Without directly naming the U.S., China urged “certain major powers” to adopt a constructive role in facilitating a ceasefire and easing regional tensions.
