Three seriously injured in head-on collision on Heidebaan in Sint-Niklaas

Sint-Niklaas – Three individuals sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision on Heidebaan in Sint-Niklaas, near a McDonald’s location. Law enforcement closed the road as emergency services attended to the victims and initiated an investigation into the incident, reports 24brussels.

The crash involved a vehicle traveling towards Beveren, which collided with another car, resulting in the latter overturning onto its side. Emergency responders promptly treated the injured parties on-site before transporting them to the hospital for further care.

Investigation into the Head-On Collision on Heidebaan

Authorities quickly cordoned off the roadway to facilitate an investigation into the crash’s cause. Potential factors under examination include driver distraction, mechanical failure, or an unexpected maneuver, although no definitive cause has yet been established.

At the time of emergency responders’ arrival, the three occupants of the overturned vehicle had exited the wreckage. Despite their escape from the vehicle, they suffered significant injuries and received immediate medical attention.

Police maintained road closures in both directions on Heidebaan following the incident, while traffic officers ensured the area remained clear for investigators to assess the scene thoroughly. The road remained shut until the removal of the damaged vehicles and debris.

A similar serious accident occurred on Heidebaan in June 2023, where a sports car lost control and collided with another vehicle occupied by an elderly couple. All three individuals were injured and required hospitalization. The fire service was subsequently called to clear the scene for safe traffic flow.
