EnergyVision Tests Rooftop Wind Turbines for Home Use

Belgian energy company EnergyVision is testing small rooftop wind turbines designed for private homes. The first results look promising, according to CEO Maarten Michielssens., reports 24brussels.

Known for its solar panels, electric charging points, and energy supply, EnergyVision is exploring additional methods to enable households to generate their own green power, even during the darker winter months when sunlight is limited.

The company is currently evaluating “The Blade X1,” a compact vertical wind turbine developed by Dutch start-up Cell Technologies. Standing about one metre high, similar to a chimney, the unit features ten small blades designed to capture wind from all directions.

Michielssens stated that initial tests reveal significant potential; however, the company will proceed with a full rollout only once the performance and profitability of the turbines are validated. A final decision on this matter is anticipated within six months.

This initiative aligns with EnergyVision’s broader strategy to phase out gas by 2030 and transition households to heat pumps powered by locally sourced renewable energy.
