Apple Files for New Vision Pro Headset

Apple has submitted a filing for a ‘Head Mounted Device’ that resembles a new version of its Vision Pro headset, reports 24brussels.

The filing, made with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), includes a diagram depicting the headset, designated under model number A3416. It confirms that the new device will support Wi-Fi 6, consistent with the specifications of the original Vision Pro. Upcoming features are still being analyzed, but connections to past leaks suggest enhancements to ergonomics, specifically a redesigned strap aimed at alleviating head and neck discomfort.

In July, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicated that Apple could release a new Vision Pro headset “as early as this year.” The updated model is anticipated to include a more powerful M5 processor—specifications hinted at in code inadvertently shared by Apple.

Beyond the M5-equipped Vision Pro, reports indicate that Apple is developing a lighter, more affordable Vision “Air” set scheduled for launch in 2027. In addition, the company is exploring the creation of smart glasses modeled after Ray-Ban Meta, equipped with voice control and gesture recognition capabilities.

The competitive landscape for virtual reality and augmented reality devices continues to evolve, with Apple poised to potentially redefine its position with innovative hardware enhancements aimed at both consumer and enterprise markets.
