Apple Launches New iPad Pro with M5 Chip
Apple has unveiled its latest iteration of the iPad Pro, showcasing significant upgrades with the introduction of the M5 chip, which reportedly delivers “up to 3.5x the AI performance” compared to its predecessor. This new model is designed to enhance video processing capabilities and comes equipped with the C1X cellular modem for cellular versions and the N1 chip for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Thread connectivity, reports 24brussels.
The updated iPad Pro is available in two sizes, starting at $999 for the 11-inch model and $1,299 for the 13-inch version. Pre-orders are currently open, and the tablets are set to ship starting October 22, 2025.
This release follows a major redesign in May 2024, when Apple introduced a thinner chassis, an OLED screen, improved accessories, and a new camera setup in the prior model. It was also the debut platform for the M4 processor, which established the iPad Pro as a leading device in its category. With prices potentially reaching $2,000, the tablet remains a premium offering in the market.
The enhancements in the new iPad Pro aim to ensure that it operates increasingly like a laptop. The introduction of iPadOS 26 enhances multitasking capabilities, allowing users to perform tasks with more freedom than before. Coupled with the Magic Keyboard accessory, the iPad Pro is increasingly capable of fulfilling work typically reserved for traditional laptops. Analysts suggest that the ongoing software improvements may enable users to fully leverage the M5 chip’s potential.
