Apple’s New AI Developments: Robots and Smart Home Technologies
Apple is advancing its AI initiatives, with a focus on developing multiple robots, a smart home display, and an upgraded version of Siri, according to an extensive report from Bloomberg, reports 24brussels.
The tech giant is reportedly working on a tabletop robot that resembles an iPad mounted on an arm, capable of moving around and following users. Earlier this year, Apple showcased a prototype resembling a real-life version of the Pixar lamp, which has garnered attention for its charming capabilities, including dancing.
Scheduled for a 2027 launch, this robot aims to provide a more visual version of Siri, enabling more natural conversations akin to what occurs with ChatGPT. Tests have included an animated version of the Finder logo for Siri, alongside concepts inspired by Memoji. Additionally, Siri is set for a significant upgrade through the integration of large language models (LLMs).
Apple is also exploring other robotic innovations, such as a wheeled robot similar to Amazon’s Astro and has tentatively discussed humanoid robots.
By mid-2026, Apple plans to unveil a smart home display that will facilitate smart home control, music playback, note-taking, and video calls. This device is expected to feature a contemporary look for Siri and could employ a new operating system capable of recognizing individual users through facial scanning. The smart home display, described as resembling a Google Nest Hub with a square screen, underscores Apple’s commitment to enhancing user interaction.
Moreover, Apple is expanding into home security, with plans to introduce a variety of security cameras and other home-security products as part of a broader hardware and software range. These advancements represent a notable shift in Apple’s strategy to catch up with other tech giants in the AI space.
