Apple Upgrades Vision Pro Headset with M5 Chip
Apple has announced an upgrade to its Vision Pro headset, now equipped with an M5 chip, alongside the introduction of a new Dual Knit Band strap aimed at enhancing user comfort, reports 24brussels.
The M5 headsets will be available from October 22, 2025, priced at $3,499. While the design remains unchanged, the M5 chip promises faster processing and improved image rendering, delivering 10 percent more pixels on the OLED displays and increasing refresh rates up to 120Hz from a previous maximum of 100Hz. Additionally, AI-driven features like Persona and spatial photos will operate up to 50 percent faster, and battery life receives an upgrade, extending to 2.5 hours of general use and three hours for video playback.
The Dual Knit Band combines elements of the Solo Knit and Dual Loop Band, available in sizes small, medium, and large, with an adjustable side dial. Priced separately at $99, it is compatible with the original M2 Vision Pro.
Launched in early 2024, the original Vision Pro featured the less powerful M2 chip, making the M5 upgrade a strategic move as Apple looks to enhance the headset’s capabilities. This announcement follows Apple’s recent foray into live immersive sports experiences on the device, as well as its pivot towards smart glasses, a move underscored by the upcoming release of Samsung’s Project Moohan competitor on October 21, 2025.
