Apple has announced that a selection of live Los Angeles Lakers games will be available in the Apple Immersive Video format for the upcoming NBA season. Users of the Apple Vision Pro headset will experience games as if they were courtside, offering unique perspectives unattainable in traditional broadcasts, reports 24brussels.
The immersive offering will allow fans to feel the intensity of each match through cutting-edge technology. Apple emphasized that this will enhance viewers’ engagement with the sport unlike ever before.
The Vision Pro will complement a growing array of immersive content, which currently includes a scripted short set inside a submarine, a concert by Metallica, and a short film from the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend. However, these Lakers broadcasts represent the first instance of live sporting events being available in Apple Immersive Video.
Viewers can access the first Lakers game in this format early next year through either the NBA app or the new Spectrum SportsNet app. The complete schedule of available games will be unveiled later this fall. Furthermore, users will need to have visionOS 26 installed on their Vision Pro devices to view the games.
