Asus Unveils Cutting-Edge ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W Monitor at Gamescom 2025
Asus has introduced the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W at Gamescom 2025, a gaming monitor that offers significant advantages over its competitors. The device features a 26.5-inch 2560 x 1440 QHD OLED screen with an impressive refresh rate of up to 540Hz, and it can switch to a remarkable 720Hz when operating at 1080p resolution, reports 24brussels.
While the 720Hz refresh rate may not make the Asus model the fastest on the market—Koorui and HKC have announced 750Hz monitors—their TN panels lack the superior color quality, brightness, and viewing angles offered by Asus. Furthermore, the flexibility of switching resolutions to maintain performance sets the PG27AQWP-W apart.
Asus utilizes a tandem OLED panel in this monitor, designed to enhance HDR brightness and prolong the lifespan of the display. The glossy coating promises to optimize color vibrancy and improve black levels, all while minimizing glare, even in bright environments.
The striking silver and transparent design of the monitor further distinguishes it in a market filled with standard black models. Despite its innovative features, the company has not yet disclosed pricing or a release date, though the advanced technology suggests it will come with a high price tag.
Another model introduced is the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG, which features similar tandem OLED technology but operates at a lower 280Hz refresh rate. This model requires HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 1.4’s DSC compression for high-speed connectivity, whereas the PG27AQWP-W supports the latest DisplayPort 2.1a standard.
Both monitors include a “Neo Proximity Sensor” for automatic screen blackout when the user is away, minimizing the risk of burn-in, a prevalent concern with OLED screens. Asus also provides a three-year warranty against burn-in, indicating confidence in their protective technologies.
Competitors are expected to adopt the same 4th-generation WOLED tandem panels from LG Display, which could lead to the emergence of more OLED monitors featuring similar capabilities. This shift reflects the growing interest in high-performance gaming displays across various brands.
As we await further updates on pricing and availability, the potential of the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W to redefine gaming experiences in esports and competitive gaming remains clear.
